AmeriCorps Iowa and AmeriCorps VISTA are filling COVID-19 recovery related positions

 

Volunteer Iowa is working with dozens of community organizations across the state to leverage VISTA and AmeriCorps State members for intensive, full- and part-time positions to support ongoing needs as a result of the impact of COVID-19. Short term and year-long positions are being filled now.

As a member of the Iowa COVID-19 Recovery AmeriCorps, you will deliver support to meet the basic needs of Iowans, lending a hand to organizations that are experiencing challenges due to COVID-19. Iowa COVID-19 Recovery AmeriCorps members can help address food insecurity, support independent living needs, manage volunteers, or provide other supports that help address the challenges facing communities and citizens with the implications of COVID-19 in our state.

AmeriCorps VISTA is recruiting members to fill year-long COVID-19 recovery related positions.

Year-long VISTA Member Living Stipend and Benefits

  • A living allowance of $13,399.15 for completing 12 months of service, to be paid every other week. The living allowance will be divided evenly across the term of service.
  • Choice of End of Term benefit
  • Eligible for a Segal Education Award worth $6,345 from the National Trust, to be awarded upon successful completion of the term of service
  • A cash stipend in the amount of $1,800
  • Health benefits

  • Federal student loan deferment, forbearance or forgiveness opportunities are available
  • Non-competitive eligibility for federal employment
  • Training and professional development

Summer Associate VISTA Member Living Stipend and Benefits

Living Allowance:

The summer living allowance is $256.97 weekly. VISTAs will be paid bi-weekly and are required to have funds deposited directly into an account unless written justification is provided to Volunteer Iowa as to why direct deposit should not be required.

End of Service Benefit:

VISTA members must choose either the $1,342.86 Education Award, or the alternative, the end-of-service cash stipend of 8-week term of service = $276.64; 9-week term of service = $311.22; or 10-week term of service = $345.80. During enrollment VISTAs will choose their end of term benefit. The end of service benefit selection is final and cannot be changed at any point.
