AmeriCorps
AmeriCorps is commonly referred to as the domestic Peace Corps. It is a national
service program that enables individuals to commit a significant amount of time
to voluntary service designed to meet community needs. For more information visit

are three branches of AmeriCorps service programs:
- AmeriCorps State and National : The Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service oversees
AmeriCorps State programs operating in Iowa.

- AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America): This branch is administered
by the Iowa Office of the Corporation for National and Community Service. Contact
the Corporation State Office for a listing of AmeriCorps VISTA placements in Iowa

- AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps): These programs are operated out of five regional campuses located throughout the country. The North Central Regional Campus, serving Iowa and nine other states, is housed at the Iowa Braille & Sight Saving School in Vinton, Iowa.
