Need Volunteers?
Since many people looking for volunteer opportunities begin their search online, the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service has instituted a statewide Volunteer Solutions system. By using this registration system, potential volunteers can enter their area of interest and the geographic area they would like to serve and instantly see a list of organizations that are currently looking for volunteers. And, organizations that need volunteers can quickly learn about and contact the people who are interested in helping them.
To make sure that people can easily find out about the volunteer positions your organization has available, you need to register as an “Agency” There is no cost. Simply click on the “Register here!” link to establish your account.
If you already have an account with Volunteer Solutions or 1-800-Volunteer.org all you need to do is make sure your listings are up to date and that your account settings allow information sharing. Any needs you list through your own system will automatically be included in the Iowa system and will also be available to volunteers searching the national volunteer matching portal at www.serve.gov.
The signup process should take approximately 15 minutes as long as you have the following information on hand when you begin:
- Primary agency contact's up-to-date email, phone number and address
- Password for your agency to later update their information
- Employer Identification Number (EIN) optional
- Agency's Mission statement
- Agency description of services statement
- Coordinator's name, phone and address for each listing
- Title of listings, descriptions, and dates (where applicable). At least one volunteer opportunity posting is required during the initial registration process; more listings can be added at any time.
