Corporate Volunteerism and Corporate Social Responsibility
Globalization has made Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) more relevant today than at any other time. CSR calls companies to take upon them the responsibility of being leading actors in the process of social development. As a result, leading companies are reconsidering the way in which they relate to the communities in which they work. This means building new kinds of partnership with investors, employees and civil society at large.
Corporate Volunteerism is an easy and straightforward way to improve / start-up a successful CSR strategy with tangible results in the short term; where with little effort, significant benefits for both Company and Community can be achieved.
Corporate Volunteerism engages the company as a social actor but also the employees as responsible citizens.
The Company encourages and promotes volunteerism on its premises by declaring defined work hours available for volunteering.
The employees choose to use this volunteer time by sharing and transferring their knowledge and skills (professional or others) to Non Governmental Organizations.
This makes the employee-volunteers more aware of their capabilities to contribute to the development of the community in which they work.
