Governor Culver recognizes National Volunteer Week in Iowa Dear Volunteers: On behalf of the State of Iowa, we want to thank you for your involvement during National Volunteer Week from April 19 – 25. Community service teaches us all to work for something greater than ourselves. To give back is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable activities one can take part in and we are thrilled to see so many young people and community members in Iowa sharing that attitude. As Governor and Lt. Governor, we feel that our volunteers are some of Iowa’s most valuable assets. They are continuously working to improve our communities, help our citizens and strengthen our great state. During National Volunteer week, we not only recognized those who already dedicate their time to volunteering, but we also encouraged others to get involved. As volunteers, you have all shown the heart, hard work and determination that has made Iowa one of the best places to live in the country. Our state prides itself on the traditions of strong values, a spirit of community, and a high quality of life. Your continued hard work will help insure that we never stop demonstrating what makes Iowa great. Sincerely,
