Iowa Mentoring Partnership Announces First Annual Excellence in Mentoring Awards
In celebration of the 10th anniversary of National Mentoring Month, the Iowa Mentoring Partnership (IMP) and the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service (ICVS) have organized a new award that will recognize outstanding mentors in Iowa. The awards ceremony, to take place on January 28 at the State Capitol, will serve as the culminating event for National Mentoring Month 2010.
In its first year, the Excellence in Mentoring Awards will honor five individuals who have made significant differences in the lives of young people through mentoring. The award will be the most prestigious state-level honor mentors can receive. The people selected will be those whose volunteer, community service and civic engagement efforts focus on building and strengthening the lives of young people throughout our state.
Mentoring programs currently certified by the IMP are eligible to nominate one outstanding mentor for the award. Nomination packets will be released in early October and award winners will be notified in mid-December
