Iowa Volunteer Hall of Fame Nomination Materials ReleasedThe Iowa Volunteer Hall of Fame was established in 1989 by the Governor’s Office for Volunteerism to honor extraordinary Iowans who have freely given their precious time and talent in countless ways to benefit others. Coordination of this program shifted to the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service in 2002. Being inducted into the Iowa Volunteer Hall of Fame is the most prestigious state-level honor volunteers can receive; the people selected are those who have forever changed their community, the state, the nation, or the world with their volunteer service and action. You can help recognize the unsung volunteer heroes in your own communities and organizations by submitting a nomination for someone you believe has demonstrated exceptional commitment to volunteerism by helping their community and those in need. Nominations may be submitted in one of several categories: individual, organization/nonprofit, group, family, business/corporation, or labor union. Nomination instructions can be downloaded from www.volunteeriowa.org/halloffame.html. Online nomination forms must be completed by midnight on January 8, 2010. For more information, contact Jody Benz at icvs@iowa.gov or 515.725.3094.
