Aaron Eilerts Day of Service and Giving
The second annual Aaron Eilerts Day of Service will take place on February 24 in honor of a talented and compassionate young man, who tragically lost his life in the devastating tornado at Camp Little Sioux on June 11, 2008. Aaron, an eighth grader at Robert Blue Middle School in Eagle Grove, truly lived with a “Spirit of Service.” Countless Iowans’ lives were made better because of Aaron’s understanding of one simple truth: service to family, community and friends is something which links us all. For more information about Aaron please visit a page from his middle school at http://www.eagle-grove.k12.ia.us/robert_blue/aaron_eilerts_day.
If you know of any activities going on during the month of February that could be named in honor of Aaron we would like to hear about it. Please help spread the word by encouraging your friends and colleagues to take part as well. Use the links below to access the official proclamation for this day, a document from Aaron’s middle school highlighting project ideas, and a letter from Governor Culver.
If you are planning a project or event in honor of Aaron, please e-mail the date, location, and a brief description to adam.gross@iowa.gov so we can share the information with the media. If you have questions about this day of service, please contact Adam Gross at 515.281.0159 or adam.gross@iowa.gov.
