Plans are underway for the Corporation for National and Community Service's (CNCS) second annual Mayor’s Day event on Tuesday, April 1, 2014. Wendy Spencer, CNCS CEO, announced a partnership in Seattle between CNCS, Cities of Service, the National League of Cities, and the U.S. Conference of Mayors. We’re excited to continue to rally support for our programs and to utilize this event to recognize local efforts.
We’re asking each national service project in Iowa to develop outreach strategies to bring at least 5 Mayors on board for this initiative. Please note, your organizations can expand outreach to include county commissioners, city alderman, tribal leaders, and other representatives as appropriate. However, the focus should be on mayors within your service area. Check out these resources:

For official updates and to register mayors’ participation, take a look at the Mayor’s Day web page, where logos and an FAQ sheet are available. All mayors who are interested in participating should register through the “Sign up and Join” page on CNCS’s website.
Thank you for your continued service to our communities. We look forward to your participation for Mayor’s Day activities.
